  Prologue

I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror, thinking about all the events that occurred in the past few weeks. The life as a psychic medium has its ups and downs but knowing you helped a spirit move on and release their past is very rewarding, especially when you also helped solve and unsolved case with the Houston Police Department. I undressed and took a relaxing bath. After my bath, I dried my body, wrapped myself in a towel and dried my hair. I lit a few candles and sage incense. My room is decorated like any spiritualist, with hanging plants and crystals everywhere. I took off my towel and laid naked in my bed as I covered myself in my moon decorated comforter. I laid in bed, meditating before drifting to sleep.

I fell into a vivid dream state. I was still in my bed, but the room was pitch black with light only illuminating above me and around my bed. A familiar man walked out of the darkness towards me.

  “Logan?” I called to him.

I looked at him in amazement. The sight of him seemed so real. He walked closer to me and I admired his muscular physique. He was a tall African-American male, about 6’4, muscular and fit. He had a mesmerizing smile and short cut hair. He walked towards me dressed in white-collar shirt and white slacks. When he reached my bed, he sat next to me. He slowly reached to touch my face and I leaned in to embrace his touch. His touch felt so real and comforting.

“Thank You Luna. You have no idea how much you have helped me. You helped me to realize the type of woman I married, and you helped set me free. You cleared my name. I can now move on in spirit. The only thing stopping me now is you. You have become my friend, Luna Amethyst. Now it’s my time to help you. It should be easier now for you to realize the truth.”

“Logan, what do you mean? Everything is already amazing in my life right now. I helped solve an unsolved case. Plus, I’m engaged. I’m getting married.” I replied in excitement.

“You’re getting married?” Logan asked with disappointment in his voice.

“Yes, I’m getting married to Joshua. He’s the detective who helped me solve your case.” I happily continued.

“You can’t do that, you know.” Logan replied.

“What do you mean? Can’t do what? He’s a good guy, he helped me to help you move on to the other side. Your free,” I explained.

“No! You don’t understand. You need my help. Your putting yourself in danger,” Logan said grabbing both my arms and shaking me in anger.

“Logan, stop you’re hurting me,” I said trying to calm him.

“I’m not hurting you. I’m trying to help you, but you won’t fucking listen to me,” Logan screamed at me still squeezing my arms.

“Logan, please. Why are you so angry? I helped you. Please stop,” I pleaded.

“See you still not listening. I’m only trying to help you. You need to leave him alone. You are in danger. Your life depends on it. Your new fiancée is not the man you think he is. If you do not listen things can end bad for you. Listen to me damnit!” Logan said with rage building inside.

“Logan, I understand your concern, but I know Joshua. He’s a good man and a detective. I’m in safe- “

“Shut up, you weren’t helping me. You’re selfish. I thought you cared about our friendship. You were only helping your boyfriend! Trying to make him look good. What did you get out of it? Answer Me!” Logan yelled.

“Logan, honestly, I wanted to help you move on. For you to have closure. For you to have closure with your wife,” I responded sincerely.

“So, you help people be forgotten, is that what you’re telling me?” I shouted.

“Why do you all make me this way. My heart is good, but you are just like the others. You want to see my bad side. I’m trying to help you but instead you throw away my help. So, I will have to treat you just as I treated the others. Revenge will be mine. So, for now I release you. Oh, and by the way, see you soon,” Logan said as he pushed me hard back onto the bed.

I suddenly jerked back into my body instantly awaking.

“I think I made a huge mistake,” I thought aloud.

  Chapter 1

I was awakened by the sound of the alarm on my clock. I slammed my hand on the clock to end the blaring sound. I sluggishly looked at the time.

  “6:00 a.m.” it read.

I got out of bed and walked naked towards my bedroom. I looked in the mirror to admire my body. I was always small in frame. I only weight 115lbs. and 5’2 in height. I tossed my shoulder length blonde hair and smiled in the mirror. I brushed my teeth and took a quick shower. After my shower, I dried myself off and covered myself in a towel. I walked into my room, lit a few of my candles and incenses. I placed my amethyst crystal and sat on my mandala meditation pillow. I closed my eyes to meditate and practice breathe work to help clear my mind and aura before my clients arrived. After thirty minutes of meditation, I finished preparing by doing my makeup, drying and styling my hair, and getting dressed. I cleaned and prepared my work area which consists of a family’s antique round table in my dining room area with two white candles in the center. I also lit a few incenses around the house. Just as I finished preparing my doorbell rang.

“Client one arrived on time,” I said as I walked towards my front door.

I opened my door to a frantic client.

“I really need your help. I don’t know where else to turn,” my client, Jessica, said in tears.

“Come in. Sorry I didn’t get to you sooner. I’ve been a bit busy but let’s take a seat and let’s see if I can answer some of your questions,” I said as I escorted Jessica to the table.

Jessica immediately sat at the table still crying. I sat in the chair across from her and grabbed her hand.

“Tell me,” I calmly said to her.

“It’s Jason. I don’t know where he is. There were no calls. His phone is off. It’s like he’s disappeared. Even his friends are not answering my calls. We been together for five years. Something really bad happened, I know it.” r />
“Hold my hands, close your eyes, and think of him,” I instructed.

  She complied.

I closed my eyes and focused on her through my third eye. Flashes of images came through my mind. I see a man with blue eyes and a scar across his right eye appeared in my mind. He was smiling and kissing a woman with black hair and a rose tattoo on her neck. Another image appeared in my mind of them both getting married as a bald man with a mustache and beard cheered for the couple. I opened my eyes to look at Jessica. I shook my head speechless not knowing how to deliver the bad news.

“I don’t know how to say this, but I’ll just say it. He left you,” I said hesitantly.

“What? What do you mean?” Jessica responded shockingly.

“He left you for another woman,” I responded.

“No. He couldn’t. You’re lying. I never should have come here. I knew psychics were fake,” she said angrily as she stood up.

“This Jason guy, does he have blue eyes and a scar across his right eye?” I asked.

“How did you know that?” Jessica asked in amazement.

“Do he have a friend with a bald head with a mustache and beard?” I continued.

“Tony! How? It’s true. It’s all true. What do the girl look like?” she eagerly asked.

“She had black hair and a rose tattoo on her neck,” I responded.

“Crystal?! It all makes sense. The non-stop calls. The hidden texts. He said it was only regarding the baby. It was nothing he said. I got to go,” Jessica said as she stormed out of the house without saying a word extra.

“Well she’ll be back. Guess I’ll take a nap,” I said flopping on the couch. As I slept, a voice began to call to me.

“Miriam? Miriam? Miriam are you there? It’s me, Logan. Miriam!” the voice got so loud it awoke me.

  The doorbell rang.

I walked towards the door, stopped to fix my hair in the framed mirror next to my door, and answered with a smile.

“Luna!” regular client, Nora said in excitement.

“How are you?” I asked as I embraced her.

“Well you know. Same ole, same ole. Anyway, ready for my reiki session. I need to release some of this nasty dark energy from these men you know. You know how these tricks are,” Nora said entering my home towards the living room.

Nora has been a client for over two years, and she has always been open about her escort profession. I will never judge a person by their profession plus she tips me well. I prepared the living room floor with my mandala tapestry rug, purple candles and chakra crystals. Nora laid on the floor. I placed the crystals on her chakra points in the center of her body. I rubbed my hands together in preparation before concentrating as I felt for her energy. In the middle of the reiki session, I heard a voice call out again.

“Miriam? Miriam are you there?” the voice said.

“Did you hear that?” I asked Nora.

  “Hear what?” Nora asked.

“I’m sorry. Can you give me a moment?” I asked standing up to go into the bathroom.

  “Sure,” Nora replied.

I walked into the bathroom closed the door behind me.

“Whatever spirit is trying to communicate, do it another time. Miriam is not here right now,” I called out.

I splashed water into my face and pat dried it with a towel before heading back into the living room to finish Nora’s reiki session. Fifteen minutes later, Nora left my payment and tip on the table as I cleaned the area.

“See ya Luna,” Nora called out before leaving out the front door.

“Alright Nora, we must catch up,” I replied.

“Next time,” she responded before closing the door behind her.

After putting away the items from the reiki session, I walked towards the front door to lock it. Before I could reach the door, the doorbell rang.

“Sorry to bother you but can we talk a minute?” Jessica asked.

  “Sure. Come in,” I responded.

I escorted Jessica to the dining room. We sat at the table together.

“I wanted to apologize. You were right he did leave me for the mother of his child. I never thought he could possibly betray me the way he did. I thought we had a real connection, even a future together. Anyway, thank you for being honest. I’m so sorry for what I said to you. You are the real deal here. I was wrong. Please forgive me,” Jessica pleaded.

I grabbed her hand and smiled.

“It’s okay. I know the news broke your heart. I’m sorry I had to deliver the news,” I responded.

“No, it’s not your fault. It’s that lying, cheating asshole’s fault. But if it wasn’t for you, he would have just run and never admit it. I talked to him. He told me he got married and I should have known it was over. He knows I had no clue because he denied all the signs. But, it’s time for me to move on. Anyway, I know I’m venting but I want you to know I will be back,” Jessica said with tears in her eyes.

“I would love to have you back as a client,” I responded.

“Thank You. Thank you for understanding,” Jessica said as she stood from her seat.

“No problem. I’ll walk you out,” I said as I stood from my seat and walked her towards the front door.

“I’ll call you,” Jessica said as she exited my home.

I nodded my head and closed the door and locked it. I went in my room and stripped naked. I went into the living room, pulled out my yoga mat and performed my daily yoga. After my yoga session, I cleaned my area and went in my room to grab my favorite robe. I grabbed my agenda book off my dresser and grabbed my cellphone to check my messages. I had one voicemail.

“Hi. Umm… Hello Luna. I was told you could help me. You know what, never mind. I shouldn’t have called. But, if you think you can help, call me. I’m Miriam,” the caller said.

I looked through my call log and called the caller.

“Hello,” the voice said on the other end.

“Hi. It’s Luna Amethyst. You called me earlier and I’m glad you called. I think I have a message for you,” I said cheerfully.

The phone immediately disconnected. I tried returning the call but no answer. I checked and updated my business website and social media sites. I prepared myself a quick dinner, a vegan stir fry and white wine. I ate dinner while watching a bit of T.V.

“Miriam. It’s Logan. Miriam, where are you?” the voice interrupted my dinner.

“Look. I’m not Miriam and I tried talking to her but she’s not ready yet, I suppose,” I responded to the spirit.

“Tell her, it’s Logan and I need to speak to her. Tell her it’s important. What she thinks is all lies,” the spirit responded.

“I’ll try. She will contact me again. I know it,” I replied.

I finished dinner, cleaned my kitchen, and headed for bed.

  Chapter 2

I was awakened by a knock at the front door. I glanced at my clock, it read 3:10 a.m. I grabbed my robe off the floor by my bed, covered my body, and walked to my front door. I checked the peep hole, but no one was there. I opened the front door to see a blank white envelope at my front door. I picked up the envelope, closed and locked my front door. I opened the envelope and opened the card inside.

“Sorry for not answering your call. I know who and what you are. You hold gifts that can bring up memories of a horrible event that destroyed my life. I’m not sure if I’m ready to know the full truth yet. I want to know why but I’m afraid. When I’m ready, I’ll contact you. By the way, I got your information from Joshua. He’s been a friend to me in my time of need. Talk to you soon. Miriam.”

I closed the card and placed it back into the envelope. If she knows Joshua, then she might be involved in an unsolved case. Joshua is a detective and works in the unsolved cases division. He also come to me for help, when he’s not trying to take me out on dates. I was scheduled to see Joshua later, so I placed the envelope on my dresser and returned to bed.

I was awakened by the alarm clock. I silenced the alarm
and began my morning agenda. I begin with morning yoga, a shower, meditation, grooming, and I dressed myself. I prepared my breakfast, a bagel and cut fruit. As I sat and ate my breakfast my phone began to ring.

  “Hello”, I answered.

There was a moment of silence then the phone disconnected. As I finished my breakfast, there was a knock at the door. I went to the front door and answered it.

“Hey Luna, I brought coffee,” Joshua said cheerfully.

Joshua entered my kitchen area with an intoxicating smile on his face. Joshua is an extremely attractive man. He’s an African American male, tall, 6’3 in height, athletic built with short cut hair.

“Hey, Joshua. Come in,” I said.

Joshua entered without hesitation and walked straight towards my kitchen. He looked to my dining room table where my plate still laid.

“So, I see I was late for breakfast,” Joshua said.

“Yeah, anytime. I need your help,” Joshua said.

“About what? Miriam?” I said sarcastically.

“I knew you would find out,” Joshua responded.

“Well she contacted me first. A male spirit named, I think Logan has been trying to contact her through me,” I responded.

“Wait! What? Logan, really. Miriam has recently come out the mental hospital due to him. According to the case files he brutally killed their kids and dismembered them. Their story is very gruesome. I want you to be careful. It seems like he was a real psychopath,” Joshua explained.

“That’s why it seemed like she was terrified when I told her I had a message. Why was she in a mental hospital? What really happened?” I asked.

“Miriam seemed to have suffered a mental breakdown from the loss of her five children. The case files just explain that Logan Matthews, a known violent alcoholic, just one day snapped, killed and dismembered his five kids. The officer on scene stated that the kids’ body parts were arranged in the shape of a pentagram,” Joshua explained.
